Chikara Shinai Ryu is a modern martial art, however respect and honour are the same now as they were many centuries ago.
In years gone past, a Japanese karate student would put his life on the line to honour his Instructor, Style and Dojo. WE DO NOT DO THAT! This is the 90's +! By learning and participating in Chikara Shinai Ryu, you honour us with your presence and as you go up the grades you honour the Style by your loyalty and dedication to training.
In Chikara Shinai Ryu, the most we can ever expect is the student honouring us by becoming a Black belt Instructor!
Respect: An atmosphere of respect and co-operation is important in the dojo. As a student you are obliged to learn and take in the teachings of the Sensei by giving your full attention to the Instructor.
The only competition is with yourself. At all times you should endeavour to help and advise those junior to yourself, and pay respect to those higher.
Karate begins and ends with courtesy and respect. If you cannot find it in you to show respect to the person who is taking their time to teach you or to others who are trying to learn like you are, then you do not belong in a Chikara Shinai Ryu Karate Dojo!
